Ms. Rivera is an advocate for first generation, low-income high school and college students. She is a first generation college student herself, the second youngest of eight siblings, and the only one who pursued a post-secondary education. She received her Bachelors of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Ms. Rivera has a unique background experience. Upon graduating, she entered the marketing field as a Digital Content Coordinator at Sendik’s Food Markets’ headquarters. There she assisted their creative team with graphic design projects. While she enjoyed her work there, she desired for something that would fulfill her heart. After two years in marketing, she decided to pursue another passion of hers; education. Ms. Rivera discovered her passion for education while working as a Peer Advisor in the Office of Undergraduate Advising Resource Center at UW–Oshkosh.
Ms. Rivera has professionally been working in education for two years now. Prior to St. Augustine Prep, she was a Pre-College & College Advisor in the Youth Programs Department at the United Community Center. There she guided both high school and college students to navigate through their post-secondary education and personal growth. Ms. Rivera has been actively involved in the community by serving on UW–Milwaukee’s Undocumented Student Task Force and Mount Mary’s Latina Advisory Board. She is committed to helping students discover their talents and guiding them to achieve their academic and career goals.
