Deana Velazquez Classroom Instructional Assistant /

Deana was born and raised on the South Side of Milwaukee. Deana is both Mexican American and Puerto Rican descent. She attended Milwaukee Public Schools and in 2008 graduated from Milwaukee High School of the Arts. From 2010-2013 Deana danced professionally for Walt Disney World and returned home to dance in the NBA as a Milwaukee Bucks Dancer.

Deana has dedicated much of her time and talents as a dance instructor, coach and director teaching at various dance studios and programs. It was through teaching that she realized she wanted to pursue a future as an educator. Her passion and dedication to seeding into students has brought her much joy. Since becoming a mother she also understands the role she is responsible for in teaching, caring and sharpening someone else’s entire world should not be taken lightly, but with great honor. Deana spent a year at Milwaukee High School of the Arts as a paraprofessional assisting 9th-12th grade literacy, math and ACT intervention.

Deana spent a year at North Central University in Minneapolis, MN studying Intercultural Studies and is currently a non-traditional student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on a full tuition scholarship studying Community Engagement & Education with a minor in Dance.
