In the year of 2013, Mr. Semmons began his teaching career in Greenwood, MS as the director of summer programs and after school tutor. When presented with an opportunity to teach 8th grade math, he realized he enjoyed education and that this was the career path for him. Since then he hasn’t looked back because he has tutored and taught every math class that a high school can offer. Most recently, he taught 10th and the 11th grade geometry and algebra II.
He has coached in the national math competition, MATH COUNTS, and his team successfully competed on the state level. He is ecstatic about coming on board as the 9th grade math teacher for St. Augustine Prep. Mr. Semmons will be incorporating technology in the classroom and is currently pursuing a Google certification for introducing new technology to his students.
Justin Semmons earned his associate’s degree at Jones County Junior College in General Education. He pursued a bachelor’s degree in engineering but believed he could better serve God by pursuing ministry. Instead, he chose a course route in education, earning his bachelor’s degree at Mississippi State University in Educational Psychology with a minor in Mathematics
