Ms. Irwin graduated with honors in 2017 from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she earned her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. Through this program, she received her Teaching license, as well as her Teaching English as a Second Language certification.
Ms. Irwin attended a non-denominational Christian school in Rockford, IL, from elementary through high school. Her personal experience in a Christian school setting and her exceptional teachers inspired her to pursue a teaching career. It was through her past experiences working with children ages two through twelve at various summer camps, day care facilities, and after school programs, where she truly discovered her passion for children and her desire to help make a difference in their lives, as her teachers have done in her own.
She began her college career at Rock Valley Community College in Rockford, IL. Upon graduating in 2014 with her associate’s degree with an emphasis on early education, she made the decision to transfer to UW-Milwaukee to further her studies in urban education. Through the Early Childhood Education program at UW-Milwaukee, she has three years of teaching experience in several of Milwaukee’s public schools in K4, first and second grade classrooms. She completed her student teaching in a suburban first grade classroom in Waukesha, WI her final semester. She also worked at the UWM Children’s Learning Center as a primary caregiver for two and three year olds.
