Jim Watkins Director of Christian Formation

For the last 17 years, Dr. Watkins has been a student or a teacher in a Christian school. His passion for Christian education has taken Dr. Watkins and his family to four schools and four countries. He has taught across a number of ages in church, middle school, high school and university contexts.

Since 2013, Dr. Watkins taught at Veritas School, a premiere Christian classical school in Richmond, VA. While he was there, he taught Bible and theology to students from 7th to 12th grade, and developed the Upper School Bible and theology curriculum.

He came on board as Director of Christian Formation in the spring of 2017. Dr. Watkins will oversee the development of a K-12 Christian education curriculum, organize and lead chapels, and mentor faculty and students.

Dr. Watkins completed a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art at Wheaton College in Illinois. He earned a Master’s degree in Christianity and the Arts from Regent College in Vancouver, Canada. In 2012, he completed a PhD in theology from the University of St Andrews in Scotland.
