Middle School Forensics Teacher
Mr. Powell was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. From a young age, he developed a love for History and Social Studies. Over the course of his teenage and early young adult years, he had the opportunity of working with nearly every age group ranging from Kindergarten to Seniors in High School. Some highlights of his work experiences include serving as a Middle School Summer School teacher as part of the Center for Urban Teaching Summer School Program and serving as a 3rd and 5th grade paraprofessional at a private school on Milwaukee’s North Side. Right before transitioning to Augustine Prep Mr. Powell worked with high school students as an Academic interventionist. In this position, he saw firsthand how vital providing students with a quality Middle School education could be for their future success.
In 2018, Mr. Powell graduated from The University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee with a degree in History. Beginning in June 2018, Mr. Powell began at Wisconsin Lutheran College’s Graduate School program to receive his Master’s in Teaching. In the classroom, Mr. Powell hopes to equip students with the tools they will need to be successful in their future. He also hopes to show his students how the study of Humanities can give them insight into how God is active and present in the world around them. Mr. Powell is incredibly excited about how he can grow as an educator alongside his students!
