Mrs. Johnson visited Milwaukee for a college course on Urban Education in 2016 when she discovered a passion for elementary urban education and a love for Milwaukee.
She had been teaching second grade in West Michigan since graduating college in December of 2018. She has taught rock-climbing to kids in rural Romania, led college freshmen on wilderness orientation trips, taught exploratory ecology camps at a nature preserve for several summers, and student-taught in a gifted-and-talented 5th grade classroom.
She joined Augustine Prep’s 3rd grade team in the fall of 2019. She is passionate about the school’s mission and can’t wait to bring her enthusiasm for world cultures, social justice, and teaching across all disciplines to this position. She is excited to get to know the community surrounding Augustine Prep and the beautiful city of Milwaukee.
Rachel Johnson earned a Bachelor’s degree from Calvin College with majors in Elementary Education and Language Arts and a minor in Integrated Sciences.
