Mrs. Sara Burnett began her teaching career at her alma mater, Academia San José, in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. There she taught ninth grade Spanish for four years and AP Spanish Literature and Culture for more. She was the student council advisor and coordinated school-wide events.
After moving to Milwaukee with her family, Mrs. Burnett taught at a private Catholic school and later at one of the MPS IB schools. Between both schools, she taught all levels of Spanish including the Higher Level Spanish IB courses. She has also worked for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Community Services as a recruiter for foster care and adoption, where she helped form partnerships with nonprofits and agencies within the Hispanic community.
Sara Burnett grew up in a bilingual and multicultural household. She earned a bachelors degree in Hispanic Studies at the University of Puerto Rico in Río Piedras. She then went on to take her teaching certificate courses at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón, in San Juan.
After moving to Wisconsin, Mrs. Burnett quickly became a Brewers fan and serves as a Little League board member in her community. She is very excited to join the St. Augustine Prep faculty and can’t wait to meet her students and start the school year.
