Tribute to Perseverance

Coming together to support our students in a meaningful way.

This past year has been historic for our world. The pressure has been put on our students, teachers and Aug Prep's first graduating class of seniors.

As a non-profit that invests $2,500 in each and every student to provide an excellent education, we rely on generosity and fundraising events to help fund those opportunities for students. As our Gala approached, we hesitated. This didn't seem the right thing to do for our donors' safety. A gala couldn't capture what barriers were put in front of the students and teachers.

So we decided to invite our donors to memorialize this year with us.

about the project

With Arts as one of our four pillars, we are building a permanent, collaborative art wall within Aug Prep that will be built by sponsors, students, families and teachers. This piece will commemorate not only our first graduation class, but a year of COVID challenges for all of us.

We are partnering with YOU and Milwaukee-based artist Jonathan Shaw to create this Tribute to Perseverance.

We are hopeful you will consider coming alongside Aug Prep to invest in our students during this unprecedented time and join in on memorializing this year with us!

YEHONATAN ART

After earning his art degree in Seattle in 2010, Jonathan moved back to his family's farm in Richland Center, Wisconsin to focus on faith, family and artwork. There, he would often spend his afternoons wandering the 160 acres of rolling hills and dense forest gaining inspiration from nature and scripture. It was in this simple, rural setting that the young artist developed his playful style of folk art. In 2013, Jonathan moved to the Milwaukee area, where he was predominantly raised and sank his roots into the city with a close group of friends.

Jonathan's whimsical expression is also inspired by various cultures from around the world as well as his desire to see life through the eyes of a child; full of wonder and awe. Throughout his career, art has become an avenue for Jonathan to enter into times of prayer, meditation and worship. Creativity has allowed the artist to cultivate a deeper relationship with the Lord and its Jonathan's hope that others experience the life-giving power of art and faith.

Jonathan lives in Milwaukee with his lovely wife, Kelsey, and their two boys, Ezra and Silas. They love exploring the outdoors, swimming in Lake Michigan (preferably not in winter though) and being with friends and family.
