James Kalupa

Jim Kalupa has been an educator in the Milwaukee community for twenty-five years. He began his career as a second-grade teacher at Bruce Guadalupe Community School before transitioning to teaching sixth-grade Math and Social Studies. He also served as a Math Interventionist, helping students develop and strengthen their pre-algebra and algebra skills.

In 2014, Jim moved into an administrative role and was appointed Curriculum Coordinator at the United Community Center. In this role, he was responsible for creating and overseeing the curriculum for 1,450 students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. He later served as an administrator at Acosta Middle School, where he was involved in school operations, student interventions, and discipline.

Currently, Jim is in his sixth year at St. Augustine Preparatory Academy and his third year as the Middle School Principal. He strongly believes in St. Augustine’s commitment to family, faith, academics, and athletics. Jim views education as a calling to help scholars become the best versions of themselves, and he believes that St. Augustine’s focus on family engagement, service to others, and Christian faith provides a strong foundation for student success. One of his favorite parts of the job is watching students grow—from sixth graders unsure of their future to confident eighth-grade leaders ready to thrive in high school.

Jim earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from Concordia University in 1984. In 1999, he completed a second Bachelor of Science in Education with a Social Studies minor from Carroll University. He returned to Concordia University in 2012 to earn a Master of Science in Educational Administration, along with a Curriculum and Instruction license.

In his free time, Jim enjoys cheering on Wisconsin sports teams and spending time with his wife and their four children.
