Kyla Bunkley

Ms.Bunkley is a passionate middle school reading teacher based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Originally from the South Side of Chicago, she moved to Wisconsin in 2017 and earned her B.A. in Biology and English & Writing from Carroll University. Now in her third year of teaching, Ms.Bunkley focuses on building literacy skills through inclusive,
student-centered instruction.

She currently serves on the Wisconsin State Superintendent’s Reading Advisory Council, where she collaborates on statewide initiatives to increase literacy achievement and equitable learning opportunities. Ms.Bunkley is also pursuing her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Virginia with a focus on educational innovation.

Outside the classroom, Ms.Bunkley enjoys working out, kayaking, and getting lost in a good thriller novel. She shares her love for the outdoors with her two dogs, Zoey (a German Shepherd) and Willow (a Cocker Spaniel), and is currently hiking a new trail each month with her best friend.

Ms.Bunkley also serves in her local church community, where she previously directed
the children’s ministry, supporting the spiritual and emotional development of children
from birth through age twelve.
